Meet Carolyn: Founder, Expert Trainer and Coach at The Developing Canine

Carolyn has been a professional animal trainer since 1984 when she began her career at the Miami Seaqaurium training and presenting shows with Orcas, Pacific white sided dolphins, California sea lions and Pacific harbor seals.

In 1989 she was asked to develop a training program with the five California sea lions residing at the Audubon Institute in New Orleans. While there she expanded her training skill by training the zoo’s white rhinos, red wolves and various primates. She was also asked to instruct many of the zoo’s staff to incorporate training into their daily routine.

In 1996 she founded The Developing Canine after obtaining her certification as a dog trainer from a nationally recognized school for dog trainers. Blending traditional dog training techniques with those used to train marine mammals, she created her own style that has helped thousands of dogs and their owners have a better understanding of one another’s needs which helps them to have a more satisfying relationship.

In 2006 she moved to Columbus, Ga where she continues her commitment to building healthy, happy relationships between dogs and their families. She’s been a professional member of the IACP since it’s inception in 1999 and continues to educate herself by attending workshops, seminars and conferences throughout the US and abroad.
